Turkish Airlines Change Flight Policy
Turkish Airlines has updated its change policy in response to COVID-19. The Turkish Airlines change flight policy applies to flights departing between June 11, 2020, and October 31, 2022, and allows you to change your ticket, obtain a refund, change to an open ticket, or extend the validity of your ticket if you could not board your Turkish Airlines or AnadoluJet flight scheduled for departure during this period for any of the following reasons:
- You were not accepted by your country of destination, or
- You tested positive for COVID-19, or
- You were unable to board your flight due to a COVID-19 situation.

According to the Turkish Airlines change flight policy, if you were unable to board your flight due to COVID-19 due to the reasons mentioned above for flights scheduled between June 11, 2020, and October 31, 2022 (inclusive), the following options are available to you.
- You can change a flight on Turkish Airlines/AnadoluJet up to November 30, 2022, without paying any change fee, as long as your flight cabin remains the same and your destination is in the same flight zone.
- If you’re departing from outside of Turkey, your ticket will be processed at your transfer point. If you perform your ticket transaction at a ticket sales office in Istanbul Airport (IST), Ankara Airport (ESB), or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), you’re allowed to make a one-time change for free on the same route and cabin to travel on a later date.
- If you’re departing from any airport in Turkey on a connecting flight abroad, your ticket will be processed at the transfer point. If you perform your ticket transaction at a ticket sales office in Istanbul Airport (IST), Ankara Airport (ESB), or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW), you’re allowed to make a one-time change for free on the same route and cabin to travel on a later date.
- You can make changes to interline flight tickets without having to pay an additional fee, as long as you book in the same fare class. However, the difference in fares will be charged. Also, no change fee will apply if an interline flight is changed to a Turkish Airlines or AnadoluJet flight.
Note. If your ticket does not include a flight to/from Guanzo (CAN), you cannot make a route change to flights to/from Guanzo (CAN).
- You can obtain a refund without paying a fee for your Turkish Airlines/AnadoluJet ticket.
- This applies to interline flights also.
- To qualify for a refund, you must provide documentation relating to the travel restriction.
Exceptions. You will not be entitled to any refund:
- If you departed on an international flight but were not accepted on a connecting flight at Istanbul Airport (IST), Ankara Airport (ESB), or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) because you failed to submit your PCR or another test on time and/or due to country restrictions.
- If you departed on an international flight (including a TRNC flight) from Turkey but were not accepted on a connecting flight at Istanbul Airport (IST), Ankara Airport (ESB), or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) because you failed to submit your PCR test or another test on time or failed to comply with other country restrictions. However, you may be entitled to a partial refund for an interline flight).
- You can change to an open ticket
- You also have the option to change your ticket to an open ticket without having to pay an additional fee.
- You can extend the validity of your ticket until November 30, 2022 (inclusive) without having to pay any additional fee.
How can I Change my Flight with Turkish Airlines?
Per Turkish Airlines flight change policy, you can change your Turkish Airlines flight date/time/destination in any of the following ways:
- By phone or the airlines office in your city/country
- Online through Check-in / Manage booking
(if you purchased your ticket directly from airlines) - Through mobile app
- Through the travel agent you purchased your ticket from
- Through a self-service kiosk at the airport

- If your new flight ticket is costlier, you must pay up the balance and the applicable currency/tax difference.

Turkish Airlines Flight Change Policy—Terms and Conditions
Per Turkish Airlines change flight policy for international flights:
- A Zero Change Fee applies if you change any flight ticket with a travel date between June 11, 2020, and October 31, 2022. If you change your ticket outside of this period, additional charges will apply depending on the fare conditions of your ticket.
- You will not be charged additionally if your new ticket is in the same cabin class.
- If you change your ticket to an Open Ticket, i.e., if you extend your ticket’s validity till November 30, 2022:
- You must cancel your ticket before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
- You will not be charged a fee for converting your ticket to an Open Ticket.
- You will be charged:
- A transaction fee
- The applicable fare difference due to a change of date and/or destination

- For travel class difference (if applicable)
- Tax differences
- If you’re flying between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, your flight will not be counted as an international flight.

Turkish Airlines Change Flight Policy for Award Tickets
The airlines allows you to change the flight time and date of an award or companion ticket, subject to the following terms and conditions:
- Modifications to companion award tickets must be made on the ticket holder’s booking. You can make such changes through a sales office.
- If an award or companion ticket has already been issued, an additional flight change fee will apply per transaction as long as your ticket is valid.
- The flight time, date, or route of flights operated by the airlines can be modified within 1 year from the issue date of the ticket, as long as you change within the same award region and the travel class. However, if you change your route, you must pay additional charges incl. taxes and fees.
Turkish Airlines Ticket Change Fee for Award Tickets
- The change fee for award/companion tickets on domestic flights within Turkey is TRY 50.
- The change fee for award/companion tickets on international flights is USD 25.
- The Miles refund fee for award/companion tickets and upgrades for which you have not used any discount coupon is:

Turkish Airlines Date Change Policy
The major highlights of Turkish Airlines change date policy are as follows:
- If your flight date is between June 11, 2020, and October 31, 2022 (inclusive) and your flight plans were affected by COVID-19, you can change your flight date free of charge as long as you travel by November 30, 2022.
- If you want to change your flight but you’re not sure when you’ll travel, you can convert your ticket into an Open Ticket for future travel by November 30, 2022.
- You must make the change before your flight’s departure.
- You won’t have to pay a fee to convert your ticket into an Open Ticket, but you will have to pay a transaction fee, the applicable fare difference due to a change of date or travel class, and tax differences (if any).
- If you’re changing your flight date outside of the June 11, 2020 – October 31, 2022 window, you may have to pay a flight change fee based on the fare conditions mentioned on your ticket.
Turkish Airlines Change of Name Policy
As with all airlines, Turkish Airlines requires that the name on your ticket match the name on your passport or other valid official ID exactly. If the name on your ticket does not exactly match the name on your valid official ID, you may not be allowed to board your flight.
What should I do if my name appears incorrectly on my ticket?
If the name on your ticket appears incorrectly, you should immediately contact the airlines or in your city/airport. Else connect with the travel agency you purchased your ticket from.

- If the name mismatch on your PNR exceeds 2 characters/letters, your ticket will have to cancelled and reissued for a fee after verifying your name. The name change fee will depend on your fare type, travel class, and route.
- If your name has changed recently after marriage or divorce and does not reflect on your ticket, you must apply for a change of name with Turkish Airlines before your travel date by providing valid legal documentation, such as a marriage certificate, divorce decree, etc. However, if it is too late to correct and you’re flying to/from the United States, the Department of Transportation’s Fly Rights page recommends that you bring the required documentation (marriage certificate, divorce decree, court order, etc.) to the airport which will prove to the authorities that the name on your government ID corresponds to the name on your ticket, even though your physical ID does not reflect it yet.
