Azerbaijan Airlines allows you to change the time, date, and/or route of your flight, subject to an applicable fee per your fare rules.
If due to internal circumstances (such as lack of alternate aircraft) Azerbaijan Airlines cancels your flight or fails to operate within the flight schedule on your ticket, does not provide a seat according to your confirmed booking, or fails to stop at the agreed stop/destination, or causes you to miss a connecting flight on the same booking, you have the option to:
Travel on the next available flight in the same service class at no additional cost, or
Travel to your destination via another route or another carrier at no additional cost, or
Travel to your destination by another mode of transport except taxi, or
Claim a full refund
If due to force majeure conditions (unnatural circumstances beyond the airline’s control), your flight is cancelled or significantly rescheduled, or you’re not provided a seat per your booking, or your flight does not stop at the agreed stop/destination or causes you to miss a connecting flight on the same booking, you have the option to:
Travel on the next available flight in the same service class at no additional cost, or
Travel to your destination via another route or another carrier at no additional cost, or
Travel to your destination by another mode of transport except taxi, or
Claim a full refund
If your flight schedule is changed due to reasons other than force majeure:
You will be informed of the flight delay.
You will receive certain free services until the airline can transport you to your destination. The free services will depend on the duration of the flight delay:
For flight delays between 2-5 hours, you will be provided snacks, cold drinks, 2 interurban and/or local phone calls, e-mail, fax, or telex. If you want to cancel your trip, you will receive a full refund.
For flight delays exceeding 5 hours and at night, you will receive free hotel accommodation on international flights, along with to-and-fro transportation between the airport and the hotel, as well as drinks and meals depending on the time of day.
Note. If your permanent address is at the point of flight delay, you may not be entitled to free hotel accommodation or additional services until a decision is made the next day. However, you will be entitled to receive services at transit or transfer points, as long as you have a confirmed booking on the next flight segment.
If you no-show for a flight on which you hold a confirmed reservation and fail to inform in advance, your reservation will be cancelled and you will be charged a no-show penalty.
Note. Rebooking or returning a ticket within 60 minutes of departure is considered a no-show.
What flight change fee do I have to pay for changing my flight?
If you want to make changes to your flight time, date, and/or destination:
You must do it at least 60 minutes before your flight’s departure.
You will have to pay a flight change fee (rebooking fee), depending on your service class and when you request the changes.
Azerbaijan Airlines does not permit changes to the following types of tickets:

Azerbaijan Airlines Rebooking Rules
The following rules apply w.e.f. April 1, for rebooking tickets and EMD vouchers on Azerbaijan Airlines and Buta Airways international flights (except special flights) that could not operate between March 10 and October 25:
One-way (OW) tickets can be changed to any date within 36 months from the original ticket’s departure date.
A completely unused RT ticket’s departure date can be changed to any date within 36 months from the original first flight segment’s departure date.
You can change a partially used ticket’s departure date to any date within 36 months from the unused flight segment’s departure date.
You can rebook a ticket without penalty only once. If you make additional changes, you will have to pay additional charges based on the fare rules that apply to your original ticket.
You can reroute a flight without paying extra as long as it is within the total amount you paid for your original ticket. Otherwise, you will have to pay the difference in fares, if any.
Open-dated tickets will have an extended validity date till December 31, 2021.
All flight changes must be within the same cabin class and fare brand of the original ticket.
Air tickets and EMDs issued before March 10, 2020, and after October 25, 2020, will be subject to the applicable fare rules.
Refunds will be allowed 60 days after normal operations are resumed.
Azerbaijan Airlines Flight Change Policy Due to COVID-19
Under Azerbaijan Airlines flight change policy due to COVID-19:
AZAL and Buta Airways tickets with a departure date between March 10, and October 25, can be exchanged under the COVID-19 relaxation policy. However, this does not include open-date tickets without a fixed return date, which you can rebook or exchange free of charge.
Your new date of departure must be within 36 months from your original ticket’s departure date.
You can change the date and destination of your new flight, as long as you pay the difference in fares and a flight/seat is available on the requested date.
If you’re not sure when you want to travel, you can opt for an electronic monetary document (EMD) voucher. EMDs have a 3-year validity period, applicable from the original ticket’s departure date. You can use your EMD voucher for travelling to any destination on AZAL or Buta Airways. EMD vouchers come with a unique voucher code and are sent to a passenger’s registered e-mail address. You can use them to book a new ticket by providing your voucher code at a ticket/airline agency office.
If you don’t want an EMD, you can ask for a refund 60 days after the airline resumes normal operations. You can do this by e-mail (callcenter@azal.az) or by filling out the Contact Form on the airline’s website.

You can make changes to your Azerbaijan Airlines flight ticket:

How to Change Your Flight Online
You can modify the date, time, and/or destination of your Azerbaijan Airlines ticket online if you purchased it directly through the Azerbaijan Airlines website (Azal.Az), ticket office, or call center.
To make changes to your ticket online:
Visit Azal.Az
Select Manage booking
Click on By ticket number
To retrieve your flight details:
Enter your surname and 13-digit ticket number
Click on the Add button
Select your flight
Make the required changes
Note
If you purchased your ticket from a travel agent/online travel agent (OTA), you must contact them directly to make changes to your ticket.
You must pay the applicable rebooking fee plus the difference in fares if any.
