How to check in online at Lufthansa 

The online check-in at Lufthansa starts 23 hours before departure and closes 3 hours to 60 minutes before departure, depending on your departure airport and travel class.

Lufthansa Mobile Boarding Pass

After you’ve checked in for your flight, you will receive your mobile boarding pass in your boarding pass file, via email, or as an SMS link on your smartphone. After your receive your mobile boarding pass, you can manage it offline on the Lufthansa app, Google Play, or Wallet.

Although the mobile boarding pass is available for most destinations, in some cases due to official regulations it may not be issued at some destinations. In such cases, you will receive a check-in confirmation and then be handed your boarding pass at the airport desk. 

If you run into any problems with the mobile boarding pass, you can obtain it either from a check-in machine or Lufthansa’s airport check-in counter.

If you are travelling only with carry-on baggage, proceed straight to your gate after clearing security checks. If you’re carrying checked baggage, check in your luggage at a Lufthansa bag drop-off counter/bag drop kiosk and proceed to the gate after security checks.

Lufthansa’s automated check-in service checks you in automatically and sends your boarding pass by text or email directly to your mobile phone—from about 23 hours before your flight’s departure.

If you have a Lufthansa iD profile or are a Miles & More customer, the automated check-in is already enabled for you:

  1. On flights in the Schengen area

How Quick Boarding Works

To avail of quick boarding: 

  • Place your boarding pass on the scanner, keeping the barcode face down. 
  • You will be let through after a short verification process.
