Copa Airlines Check-in

If you’re flying on Copa Airlines, you have the following options to check in for your flight:

1. Online check-in, i.e., web check-in
2. Mobile app check in (Android or iOS)
3. Web podium check-in/kiosk check-in
4. Airport counter check-in

Copa Airlines Check-in Times and Deadlines

1. Online Check-in Time
   You can check in online from 24 hours up to 60 minutes before departure.

• If traveling with baggage, reach the check-in desk at least 90 minutes before departure.
• If traveling without baggage: 

• Reach the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before departure for international flights.
• Reach the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights.

2. Mobile App Check-in Time
   You can check in with your mobile app from 24 hours up to 60 minutes before departure.

• If traveling with baggage, reach the check-in desk at least 90 minutes before departure.
• If traveling without baggage: 

• Reach the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before departure for international flights.
• Reach the boarding gate at least 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights.

3. Web Podium / Self-Service Kiosk Check-in Time 

You can check in at a web podium (self-service kiosk), available at Panama’s leading hotels from 24 hours before your flight till the stipulated deadline. 

4. Airport Counter Check-in Time and Cut-off Deadline

You can check in at the airport counter within the timelines indicated below: 

• For international flights, reach the check-in counter at least 2 hours before departure. 
• For flights departing from the U.S., reach the check-in counter at least 3 hours before departure.
• For domestic flights (from Columbia and Panama), reach the check-in counter at least 1 hour before departure, and 90 minutes before departure during the holiday season. 
• For flights departing from Venezuela, reach the check-in counter at least 4 hours before departure, because the check-in counters close 2 hours before departure. 

Remember, Copa Airlines’ airport check-in counters close 60 minutes before departure (except Venezuela, which closes 2 hours before departure).  If you reach the airport 60 minutes before your flight’s departure, your bags may arrive your destination on the next available flight. 

Note

• Airport counter check-ins can be busy, so be sure to reach the airport early. 
• Some airports do not accept boarding passes printed at home, but only those printed at an airport check-in desk or a self-service kiosk.

How to Check in Online on Copa Airlines 

You can check in online from 24 hours up to 60 minutes before departure for most flights.

To check in online from Copa’s website:

1. Go to CopaAir.com 
2. Click on the Web Check-In tab
3. Enter the following information:
   1. Your reservation number/E-ticket number and last name, or
      Select ConnectMiles Account and enter its account number 
4. Click on the Web Check-In button
5. Check in by following the prompts

You will automatically receive your e-boarding boarding pass.

After checking in online, check in your luggage at the airport.

If you’re travelling with luggage and have already checked in online, you must reach the airport check-in counter to check in your luggage at least 90 minutes before your flight’s departure. If you don’t have any luggage to check in, you must reach the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before departure for international flights and 30 minutes before departure for domestic flights. 

Note

You cannot do a web check-in if: 

• Your reservation does not include airport tax
• Your itinerary has non-Copa connecting flights 
• You are traveling with an animal
• You’re travelling with an infant (below 2 years) 
• You’re travelling on an unaccompanied minor booking
• You are traveling with a paper ticket
• You are traveling in a group of 10 or more passengers on the same booking
• You have changed your reservation and have a balance due
  (in which case you will need to contact the Copa Airlines Reservation Center)

How to Check in with Copa Airlines’ Mobile App

Passengers holding Copa Airlines reservations can check in from their mobile app from 24 hours to 60  minutes before departure for most flights. 

You can use Copa Airlines’ mobile app to: 

• Stay current through your travel journey 
• Search and book flights 
• Keep track of your upcoming trips
• Review your flight details
• Complete your traveler information
• Select your seat 
• Check in for your flight 
• Get your e-boarding pass 
• Cancel or modify your reservation
• Receive important flight notifications
  (delays, gate changes, etc.)
• Access Copa’s wireless in-flight entertainment
• Review and access your award miles balance

To check in with Copa Airlines’ mobile app:

• Use the check-in button to log in 
• Follow the prompts to select your flight and check in

After you check in, you will receive your Mobile Boarding Pass. You can use the Mobile Boarding Pass to go through security, immigration, and boarding without having to print it. 

Note

If your airport does not accept mobile check-in, you will need to check in online or physically at the airport desk. 

How to Check in at a Web Station/Self-Service Kiosk 

You can also check in from Copa’s web stations (self-service kiosks), available at Panama’s leading hotels—such as:

• Continental Hotel & Casino—Lobby
• Holiday Inn Clayton—Lobby
• Hotel Crowne Plaza—Lobby
• Hotel El Panama—Main lobby
• Playa Bonita Resort & Spa InterContinental
• Radisson Decapolis Hotel – Next to Decameron Explorer
• Royal Decameron Golf Beach Resort & Villas—Lobbies 1, 2, and 3

Aside from checking in, you can use the web podiums/self-service kiosks to buy a ticket, book a seat, and view flight information. 

How to Check in at Copa’s Airport Counter 

You can check in physically at Copa’s airport check-in counter. After you show your valid travel documents at the airport desk, you can check in your bags. You’ll be assigned a seat and given your boarding pass.

You must reach the airport check-in counter:

• At least 1 hour before departure for domestic flights within Panama and Colombia.
  • During holiday season—or if you’re travelling with a pet, on an unaccompanied minor booking, or require special assistance—you must check in at least 90 minutes before departure.
• At least 2 hours before departure for international flights
• At least 3 hours before departure if your flight is departing from the United States 
• At least 4 hours before departure if your flight is departing from Venezuela

• Most check-in counters close 1 hour before departure. 
• The check-in counters at Caracas (Venezuela) close 2 hours before departure.
• The check-in counters at Valencia (Spain) and Maracaibo (Venezuela) close 90 minutes before departure.
