The Philippine Airlines cancellation policy has been made more flexible in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation fee has been waived for affected flights. The sections below describe the different options available to you and explain how to make use of each.
If your flight was cancelled or affected by a travel ban, you’re allowed to cancel your flight and apply for a refund without being charged a cancellation fee. You also have the option to convert your flight ticket into a travel voucher or rebook your flight ticket and travel later (refer to the page titled Philippine Airlines Flight Change Policy).
If you’re holding a flight ticket on an international route, you’re allowed to cancel it and apply for a refund as long as you do it at least 24 hours before departure.

You can cancel your Philippine Airlines flight booking from/to the U.S. without penalty if you book your flight ticket 7 or more days before departure and cancel it within 24 hours. If such a scenario, you will receive a 100% no-questions-asked refund on your booking.

However, you may be contacted by a PAL representative for additional information, such as your bank account number, etc.
Note. The refund will be credited back to the account you used to make the payment. It can take up to 5 billing cycles for the refund to get credited to your account, depending on the bank’s response time.
If you voluntarily cancel a flight that has not been affected by a travel ban, it is known as a voluntary cancellation. Philippine Airlines allows you to make voluntary flight cancellations as explained below.
If your flight has not been cancelled or affected by a travel ban, you can cancel and receive a full refund only on Economy Flex and Business Flex fares.
Supersaver fares cannot be cancelled or refunded voluntarily.

You can cancel your Philippine Airlines flight ticket and ask for a refund online if you purchased your ticket directly from the airline. To cancel your Philippine Airlines ticket online, follow the steps below:

What is the cancelled flight compensation at Philippine Airlines?
If your Philippine Airlines flight departing from an airport in the European Union is cancelled, you have the right to:

You also have a right to compensation if PAL informed you of the cancellation less than 14 days before the scheduled departure date. However, you will not be entitled to any compensation if the cancellation was due to unavoidable extraordinary circumstances, such as bad weather, security risks, political decisions, or air traffic management decisions.

Your compensation will be reduced by 50% if Philippine Airlines offers you an alternative flight that arrives at your final destination 2 – 4 hours later.
If your Philippine Airlines flight departing from an airport in the European Union flight is delayed by 3 hours or more and the delay is not caused by extraordinary circumstances*, you are entitled to compensation ranging from EUR 250 – 600, depending on flight distance.

You are entitled to delayed flight compensation under the following conditions:
If your flight was cancelled or affected by a travel ban (Feb 2, 2023 to October 31, 2024), you can cancel without penalty and receive a full refund—regardless of what type of ticket you’re holding. However, you must apply for the refund at least 24 hours before your flight’s departure.
You can also get a full refund (without penalty) if you purchase a ticket to or from the United States and cancel it within 24 hours of booking—and your travel date is at least 7 days away.
If your flight doesn’t fall in any of the above-mentioned categories, you can still cancel an Economy Flex or Business Flex ticket and get a full refund, provided you cancel at least 24 hours before your flight’s departure.
The following tickets can be cancelled for a partial refund if totally unused, i.e., they are subject to a cancellation fee:

Supersaver tickets (cancelled outside of the travel waiver period) are non-refundable, as also the following tickets which have been partially used:

If your flight was cancelled or affected by a travel ban between Feb 2, 2023 and October 31, 2024, you can cancel any type of ticket without penalty and receive a full refund. The only condition is that you must cancel at least 24 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
If your flight has not been affected by a travel ban, you can cancel an Economy Flex and Business Flex ticket without any cancellation fee, provided you cancel at least 24 hours before departure.
You can also cancel a flight booking to/from the United States without any cancellation fee if you cancel your ticket within 24 hours of purchase and your flight’s departure is at least 7 days later.
In all other cases, a cancellation fee will apply (except Supersaver tickets which cannot be cancelled).
You can cancel your Philippine Airlines flight ticket and get a full refund in the following scenarios:
• Your flight has been cancelled or affected by a travel ban between Feb 2, 2023 to October 31, 2024, in which case you can cancel your ticket without penalty—regardless of fare type—provided you cancel at least 24 hours before your flight’s departure.
• You’re holding an Economy Flex or Business Flex ticket— both of which are refundable up to 24 hours before departure.
• You cancel a flight to/from the United States within 24 hours of purchasing it and your flight is at least 7 days later.
In all other cases, you will be charged a penalty (except Supersaver tickets which cannot be cancelled).
