The Bangkok Airways cancellation policy has been revised and the COVID-19 cancellation fee waivers have been withdrawn. Under the COVID-19 travel waivers (now over), you were allowed to postpone your trip or obtain a refund in the form of a Travel Voucher (both without penalty).
Bangkok Airways’ cancellation policy post-COVID-19 travel waivers will remain as before. You can cancel your Bangkok Airways flight and ask for a refund in the following conditions:
In all other cases, you can cancel your flight booking—but for a fee.
Tip: If Bangkok Airways cancels your flight and rebooks you on a flight that doesn’t suit you, you are entitled to claim a refund.
Bangkok Airways 24-hour cancellation policy applies to all tickets booked directly through Bangkok Airways and to, from, or within the United States. Under this policy, you can cancel your ticket to/from/within the United States within 24 hours of booking it if your flight’s departure at the time of booking is not less than 1 week later.
For the 24-hour cancellation policy to apply, you must fulfil all the conditions, i.e., you must have booked your ticket directly from Bangkok Airways; it must be to/from/within the United States; it must be booked 1 week before departure; and you must cancel it within 24 hours of booking.
If you book your ticket from a third party, or your ticket is not to/from/within the United States, or if you cancel your flight after 24 hours of booking, or if your flight’s departure at the time of booking is less than 1 week later, you may not qualify for a penalty-free refund.
The 24-hour cancellation rule is a standard set by the US Department of Transportation. It applies to all airlines operating from, to, and within the United States—and covers all types of tickets without exception.
If a passenger falls ill and is unable to catch the flight:
If a passenger dies on route, Bangkok Airways will extend the validity period of the ticket(s) of the accompanying passenger(s) by not more than 45 days from the date of death, subject to the presentation of a valid death certificate.
If an immediate family member of the passenger dies, then also the ticket’s validity will be extended by up to 45 days from the date of death, subject to the passenger presenting a valid death certificate.
