The Aer Lingus cancellation policy depends on your route and fare type. Some tickets are fully refundable, other are partially refundable, whereas some (Saver/Plus/Smart) are non-refundable.

Aer Lingus cancellation policy is subject to the following rules:
24-hour refund policy for flights to/from the U.S.
The Aer Lingus 24-hour cancellation policy applies to flight bookings to or from the United States. Under this policy, you are allowed to cancel and refund any flight booking to/from the U.S. without penalty if:
The 24-hour cancellation policy has been mandated by the regulatory requirements under the US Department of Transportation 259.5(b) (4) and applies to all tickets, regardless of fare conditions.
If you want to cancel your Aer Lingus flight due to an immediate family member’s/travelling companion’s death, submit the Refund Request Form along with a copy of the death certificate. Your refund will be duly processed and returned to your original form of payment.
Under the Aer Lingus booking cancellation policy, immediate family members include spouse, parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, sisters, mother-in-law, father-in-law, sister- or brother-in-law, daughter- or son-in-law, nephews, nieces, uncles, and aunts.
If you’re unable to travel due to illness (yours or that of an immediate family member) and you’ve consumed a part of your ticket, you’re not allowed to cancel your booking. However, you can request Aer Lingus to extend the validity of your ticket in the same class of service till you’re fit to travel again—but not beyond 3 months.
You must provide valid proof, such as a medical certificate. If your ticket involves stopovers, Aer Lingus will extend the validity of the ticket for up to 3 months from the date you’re fit to travel per the medical certificate.

If you made a duplicate booking, notify Aer Lingus within 24 hours via the Refund Request Form. The last booking amount will be refunded if the passenger names and itineraries are the same on both itineraries.
If Aer Lingus changes your flight schedule for some reason and you booked directly through Aer Lingus, you will be notified by email. However, if you booked through a third-party, they will notify you directly.
If the flight is rescheduled by 2 hours or more or you miss a connecting flight on the same booking due to the delay, you are within your rights to cancel your ticket and receive a full refund. In all other cases, the fare rules of your ticket will apply.
If Aer Lingus cancels your flight due to a disruption, you are entitled to claim a refund on the cancelled flight. To apply for a refund, you must fill out the online Disrupted Flights Refund Form.
You can cancel an Aer Lingus flight booking in the following ways:
Under the Aer Lingus ticket cancellation policy, tickets booked through third parties (online agent, travel agent, or an airline) may be cancelled and refunded by contacting the source of purchase directly.

The following types of fares are fully refundable—provided you cancel at least 2 hours before your flight’s departure:
Business fares are partially refundable, i.e., 15% of the fare plus any unused government taxes will be deducted from your fare.

Aer Lingus cancelled flight rights for flights departing to/from an airport in the European Union
If your Aer Lingus flight departing from or to an airport in the EU is cancelled, you are within your rights to:
If your cancelled flight is rerouted and the new flight departs at least 1 day later, you are entitled to free hotel accommodation if necessary, along with to-and-fro transport to the hotel from the airport.

The Aer Lingus cancellation policy allows you to cancel your flight and get a refund on certain type of fares and routes.
• Flights to/from the United States
You can cancel a flight booking to or from the United States without penalty if you:
– Cancel within 24 hours of booking, and
– Submit the Refund Request Form within 24 hours of purchase, and
– Book your ticket at least 7 days before your flight’s departure
• Flights within Europe
You can cancel the following types of fares and get a full refund:
• Advantage
• Advantage Plus
• Transatlantic flights
The following types of fares are fully refundable:
– Flex
– Business Flex fares
Business fares are partially refundable, i.e., 15% of the fare plus any unused government taxes will be deducted from your fare.
• Saver Plus Fares on European routes and Saver and Smart Fares on transatlantic routes cannot be refunded. If you cancel, only the government taxes will be refunded.
• Other Cases
– You can cancel your flight booking and get a refund in the unfortunate event of the death of an immediate family member or traveling companion. You will need to submit a Refund Request Form and attach a copy of the death certificate for your refund to be processed.
– If you made a duplicated flight booking by mistake, you are eligible for a refund only if you inform Aer Lingus within 24 hours of booking by submitting the Refund Request Form.
– You can claim a refund on a flight rescheduled by Aer Lingus if you fill out the Refund Request Form and submit it the airline before your flight’s departure.
– You can also claim a full refund on a cancelled Aer Lingus flight. You also have the option to apply for a travel voucher for future travel, or make changes to your date and/or travel destination without being charged any penalty.
If you have booked a flight to/from the United States at least 7 days before departure, you’re allowed to cancel it within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, regardless of your fare type. You must cancel and apply for a refund by filling out Aer Lingus’ Refund Request Form.
If you cancel a non-refundable ticket on Aer Lingus outside of the 24-hour grace period (as indicated above), your entire fare (incl. booking and administrative fees) will be forfeited. Only the government taxes will be refunded.
You’re within your rights to claim compensation if Aer Lingus cancels a flight to or from an airport in the EU less than 7 days before your travel date if:
• Your flight’s distance is not more than 1500km, and
• The alternative/rerouted flight offered by Aer Lingus departs up to 1 hour before your original flight and lands 2 hours later (or more) than the originally scheduled flight, and
• The cause of the delay is within the airline’s control
(i.e., the cause of the delay must not be due to extraordinary circumstances over which the airline has no control)
The amount of compensation in such a scenario is EUR 125. For details on how much compensation you’re entitled to under what circumstances, refer to the section titled Aer Lingus Flight Cancellation Compensation.
You can know the refundability status of your Aer Lingus flight ticket by reading the fare conditions on your ticket or confirmation email, or asking Aer Lingus or your travel agent on phone.
You can cancel your flight on Aer Lingus as follows:
1. On phone by calling .
2. If you booked your ticket directly through Aer Lingus, you can cancel your flight by phone (as above) or online by submitting the online Refund Request Form at least 2 hours before your flight’s departure.
3. If you purchased your ticket from a travel agent or an online website, contact them directly.
4. If you booked an award ticket, contact the Aer Lingus on or your local reservations office.
You can cancel an Aer Lingus flight online by completing and submitting the airline’s Refund Request Form at least 2 hours before your flight departs.
You can cancel an Aer Lingus flight (except Saver and Plus Fares) up to 2 hours before departure. However, you cancel all types of fares (incl. Saver and Plus Fares) in the following situations:
• If you cancel a flight to/from the U.S. within 24 hours of booking if your flight is at least 7 days later.
• If an immediate travelling companion/family member dies and provide a copy of the death certificate before your flight’s departure.
• If you make a duplicate booking and notify the airline within 24 hours.
• If Aer Lingus reschedules your flight.
• If Aer Lingus cancels your flight.
If you purchased your ticket through Aer Lingus’ website, mobile app, or call center and want a refund, click on the Refund Request Form and submit your request. But if you booked your ticket from a travel agent or a third party, you will need to contact them directly.
That depends on what type of ticket you’re holding.
• If your fare is fully refundable, you’re allowed to cancel your flight up to 2 hours before departure and get a full refund. Refundable fares include Advantage and Advantage Plus on flights within Europe, and Advantage, Advantage Plus, and Business Flex on transatlantic flights.
• If your fare is partially refundable—such as the Business fare on transatlantic flights—you’ll receive a refund minus less 15% plus unused government taxes if you cancel at least 2 hours before your flight’s departure.
• If you’re holding a non-refundable fare, you’re not allowed to cancel it. If you do, the entire fare paid by you will be forfeited—only the government taxes will be refunded. Non-refundable fares include Saver and Saver Plus fares on flights within Europe, and Saver and Saver Smart fares on transatlantic flights.
You can cancel your flight and get a full refund in the following cases:
Flights to/from the U.S.
You can get a full refund if:You cancel within 24 hours of booking, and You submit the Refund Request Form within 24 hours of purchase, and You made the reservation at least 7 days before your flight’s departure.
Flights within Europe
You can get a full refund on these fares:Advantage Advantage Plus.
Transatlantic Flights
You can get a full refund on these fares:Flex Business Flex
…and a partial refund on Business fares (15% of the fare plus any unused government taxes will be deducted from your fare).
Other Cases
You can get a full refund in case of an immediate family member’s/travelling companion’s death by submitting a
