Depending on the size and weight of your musical instrument, you can carry it:
Oversized Musical Instruments. Singapore Airlines does not accept oversized musical instruments (cello, double bass, etc.) on board as cabin baggage. You can either check it in after packing it appropriately (in a hard case) or bring it on board by purchasing an extra seat for accommodating it.
If your checked baggage has been delayed, you must lodge a report online or at the Lost and Found Office at the arrival airport. After you file your report, you will be given a 10-character File Reference Number that you can use for future correspondence.
You can trace your baggage online via the baggage portal and receive email updates for up to 7 days.
If you find that your checked baggage has arrived in a damaged condition, report it immediately to the Singapore Airlines staff at the airport. The staff will assess the damage, create a report, and pay for the damage if it qualifies for compensation.
Singapore Airlines will not compensate you for minor damages such as dirt marks, cuts, scuffs, dents, or loss of or damage to handles, wheels, straps, pockets, and other protruding parts. It will also not cover damage to improperly packed articles or items contained in overstuffed bags.
SQ’s liability for delayed, lost, or damaged checked luggage is limited to SDR 17 per kg per passenger or SDR 1,288 per passenger. This does not include damage to assistive devices, mobility aids, and wheelchairs, which typically qualify for higher compensation.
If your mobility aid, assistive device, or wheelchair is damaged by Singapore Airlines, the criteria for calculating the loss on trips to/from the United States will be per the provisions of the U.S. Department of Transportation, as explained below.
