Most musical instruments are allowed on Cathay Pacific
Passengers are allowed to carry their musical instruments as hand baggage, as checked baggage, or on a paid seat in the cabin. Requirements of the Cathay Pacific musical instruments policy are briefly presented below.

Under IATA rules, minor damages and defects like scratches, scuffs, dirt marks, stains, cuts, and punctures do not qualify for damage claims. Carry-on bags, inadequately packed articles, and items contained in overpacked bags are also not covered.
How to Make a Claim and Seek Reimbursement for Missing or Damaged Bags on Cathay Pacific
If your baggage is missing or damaged, you must do all of the 3 things outlined below. However, if you’re holding private insurance coverage for your baggage, file a claim with your insurance company.
If you lose your baggage, find it damaged on arrival, or your baggage gets delayed, Cathay Pacific’s liability is limited to the amounts mentioned below unless you have already declared a higher value and paid additional charges in advance.

Smart Baggage
Smart baggage refers to battery-operated luggage items. The Cathay Pacific baggage policy prohibits the carriage of smart bags which contain non-removable lithium batteries. Such items cannot be carried in the cabin as part of your hand baggage nor as part of your checked baggage.
However, if your smart bag contains removable lithium-ion batteries, you are allowed to carry it in the cabin or check it in after removing the batteries. After you remove the batteries, you must tape the terminals, pack the batteries separately in a plastic bag, and carry them with you to the cabin.
According to the Cathay Pacific baggage policy:
1- On piece-concept flights (Americas and Canada), a standard checked bag cannot exceed 158cm/62in in total combined dimensions (L + W + H). On weight-concept flight (most other routes), a standard checked bag cannot exceed 203cm/80in in combined dimensions. Bags exceeding in size and 70lb/32kg will not be accepted.
2- All passengers can bring 1 standard carry-on bag plus 1 personal item not exceeding:

5- Assistive devices such as a wheelchair, crutches, braces, etc., and child restraint systems and strollers can be carried free of charge (if used). There’s no limit to the number of mobility aids a passenger can check in on any flight from or to the United States.
6- Marco Polo members (Silver and Gold) are allowed to bring 22lb/10kg on Economy and Premium Economy Class and Diamond members can bring 33lb/15kg as carry-on baggage on all fare classes.

Cathay Pacific’s baggage allowance for a lap infant who is less than 2 years old on weight-concept flights (on non-Americas routes) is 22lb/10kg (in up to 2 bags) plus a car seat and a stroller. On piece-concept flights (to/from/via Americas), the baggage allowance for lap infants is 50lb/23kg (in 1 bag) plus a car seat and a stroller.
Cathay Pacific’s baggage allowance for seat-occupying children is the same as that of the accompanying adult.

Seat reservations can be made up to 48 hours prior to departure. You can reserve your seat online when booking your flight, by phone, or through your travel agent. If you didn’t reserve a seat at the time of booking, you can do it later online (via Manage booking), or by phone, including through your travel agent.
According to Cathay Pacific’s sports baggage policy, your sports equipment counts as part of your checked baggage allowance. If any item exceeds your baggage allowance, you will be charged extra.

Items that exceed 158cm/62in in length but do not exceed 203cm/80in in total dimensions will incur an oversized baggage fee of USD 150 per piece. On weight-concept flights (most flights excluding the Americas and Canada), the weight of your sporting equipment must be within the required limits. Items exceeding your weight allowance will be charged extra.
Cathay Pacific’s baggage weight restrictions for carry-on items (1 standard bag + 1 personal item) stand at a maximum of 15lb/7kg for Economy and Premium Economy fares, 22lb/10kg for Business Class fares, and 33lb/15kg for First Class fares.
The maximum weight of a single checked bag on piece-concept flights to/from/via the Americas and Canada must not exceed:
• 2 bags of up to 50lb/23kg each on Economy Class.
• 2 bags of up to 55lb/25kg each on Premium Economy Class.
• 2 bags of up to 70lb/32kg each on Business and First Class.
The maximum weight on weight-concept (non-Americas) flights must not exceed:
• A total combined weight of 60lb/30kg on Economy Class (can be split in 2 bags).
• A total combined weight of 77lb/35kg on Premium Economy Class (split in 2 bags).
• A total combined weight of 88lb/44kg on Business Class (split in 2 bags).
• A total combined weight of 110lb/50kg on First Class (split in 3 bags).

Yes, Cathay Pacific allows passengers to carry wheelchairs and other mobility and assistive devices free of charge if they are using them. Passengers carrying large-sized wheelchairs and devices can check them in at the gate or ticket counter. However, smaller assistive devices such as walking sticks can be carried on board.
