Regardless of what type of ticket you’ve purchased, you have up to 24 hours from the time of purchase to make changes to your reservation without being charged a flight change fee. WestJet flight change policy in other scenarios—such as for flights affected by specific dates, travel advisories, etc.—is as follows:
If your travel plans are interrupted by a travel advisory relating to extreme weather, airport closure, or a disease outbreak, WestJet will waive the flight change fee until normal operations resume—and offer the following options to you:
WestJet offers you a free 24-hour window from the time you purchase your ticket to make changes to your flight booking (or cancel it) for no fee, provided you purchase your ticket at least 24 hours before departure.
This means if you purchase a flight ticket at least 24 hours before departure, you can change your flight time/date and/or destination within 24 hours of purchasing your ticket without having to pay any flight change fee. If your new ticket is costlier, you will have to pay the fare difference. If the new ticket is cheaper, the balance amount will be refunded.
You cannot make any changes to a Basic fare after 24 hours of booking (or cancel it after 24 hours). For other fares, a flight change fee may apply, depending on what type of ticket you’ve purchased.

As in case of flight cancellations, Basic fare tickets cannot be changed after the 24-hour window.

The flight change fee for award tickets will depend on what type of ticket you’ve booked with your Travel Bank funds. If your new flight is costlier, you will have to pay the fare difference, and if it’s cheaper, the balance will be credited to your account.
WestJet allows same-day flight changes for all types of tickets except Basic fare tickets. The same-day flight change cost will depend on your destination and what type of ticket you’ve purchased, as shown below.

Note. If you booked your ticket through a third party such as a travel agent, you will need to contact them directly to request the changes.
Yes, you can make changes to your flight time, date, and/or destination. You’ll be eligible for a one-time fee waiver if you’re making changes on/before July 5, 2022, (June 22, 2022, for Basic fares), as long as you request the changes at least 24 hours before departure and pay the difference in fares (if any). In most other scenarios, you’ll have to pay the applicable flight change fee plus the fare difference.
If you’re travelling on a PremierFlex or BusinessFlex fare (all routes) or an EconoFlex fare (within Canada), no flight change fee will apply. However, you must pay the fare difference.
You can change your flight without paying a flight change fee if:
1– You booked your flight between March 3, 2020, and July 5, 2022(June 22, 2022, for Basic fare tickets).
2- Your travel plans were interrupted by a travel advisory.

You can reschedule your flight by phone by calling WestJet customer service number or its branch office in your city, online via Manage trips (if you purchased your ticket directly through WestJet), or through your travel agent.
You can only transfer your WestJet dollars to another member (but you can’t transfer your ticket to someone else). You will be charged a transfer fee plus taxes. You can also use your WestJet dollars to buy a ticket for someone else, provided you do it on that person’s behalf.
If you make changes to your flight booking within 24 hours of purchasing your ticket, you will not be charged any flight change fee—provided you purchase your ticket at least 24 hours before departure.
