Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs)

When traveling with a Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC), remember the following:

  • Notify Bangkok Airways at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Only Federation Aviation Administration (FAA) approved POCs can be used on the aircraft. 
  • Lithium-ion batteries between 100–160 Watt-hours can be carried as spares in carry-on or checked baggage. 
  • Up to 2 protected spare batteries per person are allowed. 
  • The batteries must be protected from short circuits and packed safely. 

How to Pay Your Baggage Fee on Bangkok Airways


To save money, pay your baggage fee at least 4 hours before departure

You can pay your baggage fee: 

  • Online at the time of booking your flight
    (when you reach the Baggage section, click on Add)
  • After booking your flight
    • Online—through Manage My Booking

Bangkok Airways Musical Instruments Policy

Passengers holding a confirmed Bangkok Airways booking can travel with musical instruments in any of these 4 ways: 

  1. Musical Instrument as Cabin Baggage
    You can carry small musical instruments such as violins if they fit within your cabin baggage allowance—and can be carried safely.
    • Your musical instrument must not weigh more than 11lb/5kg
    • Your musical instrument must fit under the seat in front of you 
  1. Musical Instrument as Unchecked Baggage 

If your musical instrument cannot be stored safely, exceeds your cabin baggage allowance (i.e., weight and/or size), or poses a safety concern, you can store it as unchecked baggage in the aircraft cabin’s enclosed storage compartment. 

To carry your musical instrument as unchecked baggage: 

  • You must reserve in advance 
  • You may be charged a fee 
  1. Musical Instrument as Checked Baggage
    You can carry your musical instrument as a checked baggage item, subject to the weight and size restrictions that apply to your fare. You must pack it safely to prevent any damage. If your baggage exceeds the permissible weight or size, you will need to pay excess baggage charges.
  2. Musical Instrument on a Paid Seat

If your musical instrument is fragile, does not fit under your front seat, or cannot be carried as cargo baggage, you can buy an additional seat for it—subject to prior approval. The instrument must be booked in advance by phone or through a Bangkok Airways ticket office.

What to Do If Your Baggage is Delayed, Lost, or Damaged

Delayed or Missing Baggage 

If your checked baggage has been delayed or is missing, you must: 

  • Report it immediately at the airport’s Baggage Service Desk or a local Bangkok Airways representative. You must do this before you leave the airport.  After you file a report, you will be given a reference number that you will need to trace your bag(s) or file your claim. 
  • Report it by email if you have already left the airport:

After filing your report, you can: 

  • Call the local baggage services office for further assistance.
  • Track the progress of your delayed or missing Bangkok Airways baggage. 

What to do if your baggage is missing after 5 days 

If you have already filed a report for your missing baggage and it is still missing after 5 days:

  1. Fill out the Baggage Claims Questionnaire form (BCQ).
  2. Submit it to centralbaggagetracing@bangkokair.com

Damaged or Pilfered Baggage 

If your checked baggage has been damaged or something is missing from it, you must: 

  • File a report with the Baggage Service Desk as soon as you notice the damage or missing items—but no later than 7 days from the date you receive the bag.  A staff member will physically examine the damage and hand over a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) with a number that you will need to file your claim later if the need arises. Also, you must keep the following documents with you:
    • Your boarding pass or e-ticket
    • Your baggage claim tag
    • A copy of your passport or ID tag

After filing your report, you can call the local Baggage Services office for assistance. The contact details will be provided on your Property Irregularity Report (PIR number).

Items Left Onboard

If you forgot an item onboard a Bangkok Airways aircraft, notify Bangkok Airways by email at centralbaggagetracing@bangkokair.com 

How to Seek Reimbursement for Missing Bag(s) on Bangkok Airways

If your luggage is damaged or lost, or something is missing from it, you must contact the Bangkok Airways’ Baggage Service Desk to seek reimbursement of expenses and/or compensation. 

  • If you want your expenses reimbursed as a result of the delay, you must report in writing within 21 days after receiving your delayed baggage. 
  • If your delayed baggage arrives damaged, you must report in writing within 7 days of receiving the bag. 

If you want to claim damages through a court of law, you must do it within 2 years from the aircraft’s actual or scheduled arrival date.

Bangkok Airways’ Liability for Lost and Damaged Bags

Bangkok Airways’ liability for lost, damaged, or delayed bags (including contents) is limited to the amounts mentioned below unless you have declared a higher value and paid additional charges in advance. 

  • Liability for trips governed by the Montreal Convention. If your trip is covered by the Montreal Convention, Bangkok Airways’ liability checked and unchecked baggage will not exceed SDR 1,131 (~USD 1,627), subject to the laws that apply. 
  • Liability for trips governed by the Warsaw Convention. If your trip is governed by the Warsaw Convention, Bangkok Airways’ liability will be limited to USD 20/kg (i.e., USD 20/2.2lb) and USD 400/passenger. 

Prohibited Items

Per Bangkok Airways baggage policy, the following items cannot be transported as carry-on or checked baggage for safety reasons:

  • Toxic chemicals and poisons like cyanide, insecticides, weed, and arsenic.
  • Refrigerated gas incl. liquid nitrogen and filled aqualung cylinders.
  • Radioactive materials.
  • Organic peroxides such as fertilizers and resins.
  • Lithium batteries exceeding 160 watt-hours.
  • Flammable liquids such as thinners, solvents, and paints.
  • Flammable articles such as strike-anywhere matches.
  • Explosives and flammable/non-inflammable gases.
  • Electronic mosquito racquets
  • Electric stunning devices.
  • Corrosive materials like alkalis, acids, mercury, thermometers, etc.
  • Biologically or chemically hazardous substances, incl. infectious materials such as bacteria, blood, viruses, etc. 

Liquids, Aerosols, Gels, and Powders 

  • Liquids, aerosols, and gels must be placed in transparent quart-sized bags in your carry-on bags (in cabin baggage), and no single item should exceed 3.4 oz (100 ml). They must be placed in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag not exceeding 1-liter in capacity. 

Examples include (but aren’t limited to):

  • Liquids including soups, syrups, and beverages
  • Hair and shower gels 
  • Sprays, shaving foam, and deodorants
  • Lotions, oils, and creams
  • Toothpaste
  • Mascara
  • Liquid-solid mixtures
  • Item of similar consistency

The following liquids and powders are allowed in hand baggage:

  • Baby foods for inflight consumption 
  • Medicines (with prescription)
  • Special dietary foods for inflight consumption 
  • Duty-free items (sealed)
  • Cosmetics (non-liquid) such as lipsticks, solid deodorants, and powder foundation

Yes, if you’re carrying baggage in excess of your allowance, you will be charged for extra baggage, depending on your route. Yes, Bangkok Airways does weight carry-on baggage. The weight of your carry-on bag must not exceed 11lb/5kg, regardless of your booking class. The size of the carry-on bag must not exceed 50 x 36 x 23cm (19 x 14 x 9in) on ATR72 aircraft and 56 x 36 x 23cm (22 x 14 x 9in) on Airbus 319/320 aircraft. 
Bangkok Airways does not specify a weight limit for the personal carry-on item (purse or laptop). However, both your carry-on baggage items must fit either in your overhead bin or under your front seat.

What is the standard baggage allowance on Bangkok Airways?
