Allegiant does not offer services for unaccompanied minors, i.e., children below the age of 15. However, children are allowed to fly on Allegiant on the conditions outlined below.
According to Allegiant, passengers who are less than 14 years old on the date of travel are considered children. Under-14-year-olds must be accompanied by a passenger who is 15 years or older and is travelling on the same flight reservation. Flight reservations can be made the normal way, i.e., by phone or online/mobile app.
There are 2 options to make a flight booking for children below 2 years of age:
If you’re booking online, you will be asked to choose your travel preference (above) when entering your child’s date of birth. If your child is travelling on his/her own seat, you must use an FAA-approved car seat. Also, be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate/age proof document.
Photo ID
Passengers under 18 years of age travelling alone must provide valid documentation to prove their age, such as a birth certificate or a government-issued photo ID. Otherwise, they may be denied boarding.
Passengers not carrying a government-issued ID may have to go through additional screening procedures.
Allegiant does not allow children below the age of 18 to travel alone on any flight with a weather advisory, unless they are accompanied by an adult passenger on the same booking. If an unaccompanied minor is being denied travel due to a weather advisory, call Allegiant Customer Care for assistance.
If you don’t reserve your seats in advance, you may be separated from your group. To ensure that you don’t get separated from your group, be sure to book your seats in advance—either through Manage Travel or when checking in online or through the mobile app.
FAA safety regulations do not allow children to occupy exit row seats or more than 1 lap infant per row (to ensure availability of oxygen masks). Children using car seats must occupy window seats. They are not allowed to occupy aisle seats, seats between a passenger and the aisle, or seats in rows just behind or in front of an exit row.
What types of car seats and child restraint devices are acceptable on Allegiant?
Per FAA recommendations, children and infants weighing less than 40lb should either use FAA-approved car seats or harness-type devices.
Approved car seats or child restraint systems must:
Note. Car seat-type child restraint systems that are more than 17.88in wide may not fit in all seats. The FAA does not allow the use of safety belt extensions (belly belts), backless booster seats, and harness devices/vests which can be attached to adults.
The AmSafe Aviation CARES harness-type device is the only device which is approved by the FAA. It can be used by children who weight between 22 – 44lb, as long as it bears a label stating
FAA Approved in Accordance with 14CFR 21.305(d), Approved for Aircraft Use Only.
If your child will not be using his/her car seat on the flight, you can:
Allegiant does not charge ticketed passengers any fee for checking in or gate checking a car seat.

Ticketed passengers travelling with children are allowed to carry 1 diaper bag per ticketed passenger free of charge. The diaper bag will not count as a carry-on bag or a personal carry-on item.
Allegiant does not provide unaccompanied minor services. Children below 15 are not allowed to travel alone unless they are accompanied by a passenger who is at least 15 years old. However, you can make an online reservation for children between 15 – 17 years of age (without paying additional fees).
No, Allegiant does not provide services for unaccompanied minors. It regards passengers below 15 years of age as children. Children below 24 months of age (lap infants) are allowed to fly on an adult passenger’s lap, provided that the passenger is at least 15 years old and travelling on the same reservation. Alternatively, lap infants (and older children) can travel as ticketed passengers on their own paid seat, provided they’re using an FAA-approved car seat and accompanied by a passenger who is at least 15 years old.
You can choose from either option when booking your ticket online (when entering your child’s age). You will also be required to show (upon request) a proof of age document, such as a birth certificate.
Per FAA, children who are 2 years or older must occupy their own seats. Passengers travelling with children (any age, including lap infants below 2 years of age) must bring along a certified proof of age document, such as a birth certificate. Passengers who are 18 years or older must carry a government-issued photo ID per TSA rules.
Passengers who are below 18 years of age and travelling alone must carry a government-issued age verification photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or ID card. Passengers travelling without government-issued IDs may have to undergo additional screening.
If you haven’t booked your seats in advance, you may be separated from your group. You can book your seat online from the homepage via Manage Travel or with Allegiant’s mobile app, right from the time of purchasing your ticket till you check in or download your boarding pass.
Remember, FAA safety regulations do not allow children below 15 to occupy exit row seats.
Children below 15 years of age travelling alone are considered unaccompanied minors on Allegiant Air—and are not allowed to travel alone. However, they are allowed to travel if they are accompanied by a passenger who is at least 15 years old and travelling on the same flight booking.
