The Thai Airways baggage allowance in 2023 for flights to or from the U.S. or Canada is:
a. 2 free checked bags of 70lb/32kg each for First and Business Class. 
b. 2 free checked bags of 50lb/23kg each for Economy Class. 
c. 1 free checked bag of 50lb/23kg for a lap infant.

Frequent flyer members are entitled to 1 extra bag per passenger (in addition to their free/complimentary baggage allowance).

Yes, Thai Airways is strict on luggage and expects you to travel within your complimentary baggage allowance, or you will be charged for excess baggage.

The compensation amount can be higher if you declare a higher value and pay an additional fee at Thai Airways check-in.

To make a lost baggage claim, you must first file a report (Property Irregularity Report, PIR) with the Thai Airways Baggage Service Office at the airport, after which you will be given a file reference number. If your baggage cannot be found after filing the report, you can claim reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred on necessary toiletries and clothing items due to the delay (you must retain and submit original receipts). If your baggage cannot be found, you can claim compensation for missing baggage through the Thai Airways Passenger Property Claim Form.

Thai Airways lost baggage compensation will depend on whether your trip falls under the Montreal Convention or Warsaw Convention. 
1. If the Montreal Convention applies to your trip, the lost baggage compensation per passenger in most cases is SDR 1,000 (approx. USD 1,470). The same compensation amount applies to delayed or damaged baggage in most cases.
2. If the Warsaw Convention applies to your trip, the lost baggage compensation for checked baggage (incl. for damaged or delayed baggage) is SDR 17/kg (approx. USD 20/kg) and SDR 332 (approx. USD 400) for unchecked baggage.

Note: If you declare a higher value for your baggage and pay a supplementary fee at check-in, you can claim a higher value in case of delay, loss, or damage. Also, if the value of your baggage is more than the applicable limit, you should consider insuring it before travelling.

You can track your lost or missing baggage online using the Thai Airways baggage tracking tool. This facility is available immediately after you check in your baggage at the airport’s check-in counter, Bag Drop, or self-service kiosk. On piece concept flights (U.S./Canada), an oversize baggage piece refers to any checked bag exceeding 158cm/62in combined linear dimensions (L + W + H). On weight concept flights, there’s no size limit for checked bags, so your bag can be as large as you like. However, if you exceed the weight limit, you’ll be charged an overweight baggage fee depending on the zones you’re travelling between.

The Thai Airways Economy baggage allowance: 
1. For domestic flights within Thailand 66lb/30kg (but 44lb/20kg for ticket L/V/W codes). 
2. For flights to/from the U.S. or Canada 2 bags of 50lb/23kg and 158cm/62in each 
3. For other international flights 44lb/20kg for Economy Saver
